Weather to remain dry, temperatures set to rise across J&K, predicts MeT | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNO): The India Meteorological Department on Friday forecast generally dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with a gradual rise in day temperatures. An official of the Meteorological Centre Srinagar told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that brief spells of light rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places on April 11, mainly during late afternoon or evening hours. The weather is expected to remain largely dry on April 12, with isolated light rain spells, followed by completely dry conditions on April 13 and 14. Similar conditions are likely on April 15, while scattered rain and thundershowers may occur again on April 16 and 17. The department has forecast dry weather from April 18 to 20. The MeT office has advised farmers to resume agricultural operations, stating that maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the next five days. Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 20.2 degrees Celsius, above the normal of 18.8 degrees, while the minimum settled at 4.6 degrees, below normal by 2.3 degrees. Qazigund recorded a high of 20.0 degrees Celsius and a low of 4.0 degrees, while Pahalgam registered 16.6 degrees and 0.2 degrees respectively. Kupwara recorded a maximum of 19.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 2.2 degrees, while Kokernag settled at 18.6 degrees and 3.4 degrees. Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of minus 1.9 degrees. In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius, below normal by 2.1 degrees, and a minimum of 12.4 degrees. Banihal recorded 20.4 degrees and 4.5 degrees, Batote 20.8 degrees and 5.7 degrees, while Katra registered 26.2 degrees maximum and 10.9 degrees minimum, the MeT office said—(KNO)
